Each platform has a different revenue split and monetization model:
- Twitch: 50/50 sub split for most streamers; the Plus Program can raise this to 60% or 70% for qualifying high-sub-count channels. Bits pay a flat $0.01 per bit to the streamer. Ad CPM for gaming averages $1–2.
- Kick: 95/5 split — by far the most creator-friendly. Lower ad fill rates than Twitch but growing.
- YouTube: Memberships at 70/30, Super Chats at 70/30. RPM (revenue per 1,000 views) for live gaming is ~$1.50–3.50.
Real revenue depends on your audience, their location, advertisers, brand deals, and dozens of other factors. Use these as directional estimates, not financial projections.

What is the Twitch sub split?
Most Twitch Affiliates and Partners receive 50% of subscription revenue (~$3.00 per Tier 1 sub at the current $5.99 price). Twitch ended legacy negotiated 70/30 deals in 2023; the Plus Program can now restore a 60% or 70% split for channels sustaining high subscriber counts.
Is Kick really 95/5?
Yes — Kick pays creators 95% of subscription revenue, keeping only 5%. This is significantly better than Twitch's standard 50/50. However, Kick has a smaller advertiser pool, so ad revenue may be lower.
Why is my YouTube ad revenue an estimate?
YouTube ad revenue (RPM) varies enormously based on your audience's country, content niche, time of year, and ad market conditions. Gaming channels typically see $1–5 RPM; finance or business content can see $10–30+ RPM.
Are brand deals included?
No — brand deal income is highly variable and depends on your niche, audience demographics, and negotiation. Many streamers earn more from brand deals than platform revenue once they reach a few thousand viewers.
How do streaming platforms pay out?
Twitch pays monthly around the 15th for earnings from two months prior, via PayPal, check, or ACH, with a $100 minimum threshold. YouTube pays monthly around the 21st with a $100 minimum. Kick pays monthly with a $50 minimum via PayPal.
What are Prime Gaming subs?
Amazon Prime subscribers can link their Amazon account to Twitch and subscribe to one channel per month at no extra cost. Streamers receive the same payout as a regular T1 sub ($2.50 at 50/50 split). Prime subs don't auto-renew — viewers must manually re-sub each month.
Do ads run automatically on my stream?
Twitch may run pre-roll ads before viewers join your stream regardless of your settings. You can run mid-stream ads manually via Dashboard or set up Ad Manager to run them on a schedule. Affiliates and Partners both have access to ad revenue, but Partners get more granular control over ad scheduling.
How much do Twitch streamers make on average?
The median Twitch affiliate earns $50–$200/month from platform revenue. Streamers at 100+ average viewers can earn $1,000–$5,000/month from subs, bits, and ads alone — before brand deals. Only the top ~1% of streamers make a full-time living from Twitch platform revenue.
